Who are you??!

I thought I would share a little bit about me....my name is Anne and I have lived in Wix for over 4 years now. I decided to go part time with my work in order to finish my Psychology degree at the Open University last year. As I had a bit more free time on my hands, I thought I would start to have a look around and see what the village has on offer. Most of us that have decided to move to a village are looking for the stereotypical village lifestyle! This doesn't come to you, you need to look for it! I always loved the groups and experiences that Midsomer Murders advertises in a village setting but without the murders! I soon found out who to talk to and what we have on offer. I saw several groups had closed due to numerous reasons so decided to start a new one! From dipping my toe in the water I soon saw ways I could join existing parts of the village together. I am now a trustee for the Village Hall and Secretary to the Wix & Wrabness PTFA which have opened up new links. I have helped out on the Wix Village Fayre Committee and also Wix Parish Council Jubilee Sub Committee. Until you start looking you don't know what committees and groups are in the village. One aspect all the groups have in common is a very small amount of volunteers. All the groups need more people! From someone that used to hide away I can relate to how people feel about getting involved, but I can genuinely say it has been great fun and I have made some amazing new friends that help at every turn. My advice to anyone that isn't sure....just try! Start with a visit to Wafflers and I can easily introduce you to people that run other voluntary groups that need you!
